Arriving in Bangkok - July 11

It is 1:30 am Thailand time on Wednesday and we've just made it to our hotel, having left San Francisco at 1:30 pm Monday afternoon.  Our Siri "Poshtel" - a nice hostel? - fits its name.  Our room complete with three bunk beds, air conditioning, and our own bathroom is super comfortable. And the location seems perfect, right in the middle of the old part of the city, walking distance from the Grand Palace and other sites.  The travel was long but as smooth as possible given we flew basic economy half-way around the globe.  On our first flight Jim and I even ended up with an empty seat next to us which means I got to use 2.5 seats (including Jim's lap) to stretch out - that plus Dramamine and I slept great!  Our layover in Hong Kong made me a little nervous for how difficult this trip might end up being for vegetarians.  After checking a slew of food court options and finding nothing for non-meat eaters, we found a restaurant that had some vegan options and had what I'm sure will end up being our most expensive meal of this trip, paying almost $100 for some steamed rice, fried rice, and veggies. We should have just waited for the next leg of our flight.  I had pre-ordered the girls vegetarian meals and we were fed well throughout the trip.  Looking forward to getting started tomorrow.  Hoping to be able to get to sleep soon!

    1. It's hard to believe but we had the same camera to computer problem we had last year - I just forgot it was a problem. Has been remedied...will get caught up soon. Lucky for blogging I am having a terrible time with jet lag. Up again since 3:00 am, any suggestions??

  6. Sorry about jet lag. Do you have any ambien with you? I would try to get a medical option to at least allow you to stay asleep. Short of that just the usual stay up as late as you can to exhaust yourself.
